The Vectrix VX-1 is delivered completely highway-ready and capable of being deployed immediately onto the street. Its 62-mph cruising speed, rapid acceleration and secure, stable low-speed handling make it an unbeatable combination of motorcycle-like performance and safe, walking-speed usability.

The VX-1 can be safely, effectively—and nearly silently—operated anywhere traditional gas-powered bikes or other electric transportation options can. Its emissions-free, all-electric technology, low seat height, agile low-speed maneuverability, convenient reverse capability and narrow width allow it to be used on-the-road, on sidewalks and bike paths, and in other low-speed missions.

The Vectrix VX-1's unique combination of all-highway-legal, 62-mph road performance and stable, pedestrian-friendly low-speed operation lets you deploy quickly, in dense vehicle or pedestrian traffic. On the road, the VX-1's sophisticated, 3.7 Kilowatt/Hour Nickel-Metal-Hydride battery pack delivers a range between 25 and 50 miles, depending on terrain, traffic conditions and speed. And at slower speeds, its range can be even greater.

The VX-1 is charged from any ordinary 110-volt wall outlet, using its built-in cord. It takes about 3-5 hours to recharge completely overnight. But just an hour of recharging, during a lunch break for instance, can add 15, 20 or 25 miles to its range, meaning it can be easily recharged at mid-day, or at its destination, and have plenty of range left to complete its mission.

The VX-1's natural riding position and low, ergonomically designed saddle allow alert, comfortable riding for an entire patrol shift, reducing operator fatigue and increasing alertness and operational effectiveness compared to the stand-up-all-day Segway and T3.

For most normal riding, a Vectrix operator uses just one control—the twistgrip throttle—for acceleration and braking. There is no clutch or shifter to operate. This makes learning to ride the VX-1 quick, easy and cost-effective. It also requires less concentration to operate, allowing its rider to devote more attention to the operational situation.

The VX-1 can carry two full-sized passengers, just about anywhere. Which gives you enhanced operational flexibility and versatility, letting you quickly move people to exactly where they are needed, even through dense traffic, or in challenging emergency situations such as a fire or accident scene.

A dollar's worth of electricity can take the VX-1 over a hundred miles—just a penny a mile. And because it's always fully charged at the beginning of a day's work, there's no time lost to driving back and forth to a fueling station.

The VX-1 uses no oil, foreign or otherwise. No volatile, toxic gasoline. No lubricants or filters. It needs almost no maintenance at all: just routine checks of tire wear, tire pressures and control operation. Its advanced battery pack—the same NiMH type used in the Toyota Prius—is designed to last for 50,000 miles in normal operation—many years of normal use. So it saves on energy in the short term—and saves on upkeep, lack of downtime, and mission readiness every day of its working life.
